Blake Lively has shared the personal reason behind naming her new beauty brand “Blake Brown.”
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar on July 31, Lively, 36, explained, “Brown is my dad’s last name. My dad took Lively from my mom, so I thought it was really cool to use it.”
Lively’s father, Ernie Brown, passed away in 2021, and her mother, Elaine Lively, is also known for her previous marriages. “I’ve always been called Blake Lively, but Blake Brown was on my birth certificate and legal documents,” she said. “It’s an intimate part of my identity that people don’t know much about.”
Blake emphasized the importance of using “Brown” for her brand. “I wanted Blake Brown to stand on its own, not just be another celebrity brand. I wanted it to earn respect,” she noted.
Blake’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, humorously commented on social media that he just learned her last name was Brown. In response, Blake joked, “Ryan Lively has a nice ring to it. Your move, Reynolds.”
Blake Brown will launch exclusively at Target on August 4, with products including shampoos, treatment masks, leave-in treatments, mousse, and dry shampoo. They will also be available online at blakebrownbeauty.com starting August 5.
